they are too ickle to have at the moment but in 6 weeks they will be mine forever

The King Blues

I had a fantastic evening last night when I went to see a band at my local venue called 'The King Blues'. I went to see them at Exeter Pheonix, which is relatively small, especially in comparison to the thousands they played to at V festival this summer, but it made for a really personal friendly gig. 

They sing about subject matters they are really passionate about, racism, sexism, as well as just for a bit of fun. The cover of Dizzee Rascal's 'Bonkers' was one of the highlights of the night, the sound was completely different to the original version but it really got the crowd going, the heavy bass-line and Jonny Fox's punk voice really complimented each other.The atmosphere was great and they are definitely a band to go and see live. Look out for them in a venue near you.

Review Sunday

An Education

An Education is based on a memoir, with the same title, written by British journalist Lynn Barber, the screenplay was written by the wonderful author that is Nick Hornby. It is about a 16-year-old girl, Jenny, who simply can't wait to become an adult. One rainy day after school she meets a much older man, David, who shows her a glittering new world of art, bars, concerts, theatre and his glamorous friends, replacing her traditional, school education, with his own. He sweeps her off her feet with this new romantic lifestyle, leading to a trip to Paris and their engagement, however the seemingly perfect lifestyle ends not so perfectly. 
The acting in this film is superb, the cast fit their roles perfectly sending you on an emotional roller coaster, one minute you'll be undoubtedly happy, and the next you'll be crying alongside the characters. The overall storyline is what captivates me, but nothing is a disappointment, the costumes are beautiful and fit the setting of the play wonderfully.   It truly is a wonderful film and I would recommend anyone to buy it on DVD.

I haven't listened to MGMT in so long, I'd forgotten how great they are.

...wait I know what you're thinking, or at least what I'm thinking, topshop can be rather pricey, but this was in the sale, and down to a lovely £15, and with the student discount it really was a bargain buy!

today has been a terrible day

my cat got hit by a car and killed at some point last night, and we found him this morning. so ive been very sad all day.

and i fucked up my film and video exam.

I love the year.

Some people have a preferred season, I don't.

Each season has it's pros and cons, and each season is wonderful.

Spring - the world lights up like a fairground with wonderful plants popping up all over the place, i particularly love daffodils. Summer - a lot of peoples chosen season, because of the best thing about it, the sun. Skirts, dresses, beach, barbecues, tan lines, sunglasses, and the long glorious nights. Autumn - beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. My favourite part? Walking through a pile of fallen leaves and hearing them crunch and crisp beneath my feet. Winter - yes we moan about it, it's cold but think, it's actually lovely. You get to buy fashionable coats, and wrap up in wooly scarf's and hats, you can ski or snowboard, or chuck balls of snow at the people you love, and of course CHRISTMAS. Candy cains, that christmas tree smell, presents, wrapping paper, spending time with your family, snow, fires, turkey, chocolate (not together.)

this week i am going to...

1. take food into college, so i don't waste all my money on lunch.

2. walk into college and back, so i can get rid of my holiday tummy

3. do college work for at least an hour every night

4. do a nice thing once a day, something to make someone else happy.

5. consider cancelling my gym membership, because i haven't been in forever.

6. cross off everything on this list

my reward will be something pretty.

We all feel safe in different places, with different people, at different times. I think feeling safe is actually a lovely thing to feel, but we rarely notice when we feel it, we only notice the opposite, feeling unsafe, insecure or scared. Well all I have to say is...

 'every action has an equal and opposite reaction' 

...you can't feel happiness without hurt, you can't feel satisfaction without disappointment. I know this and things like it have all been said before but I feel it's an important thing to remember.

Lots of cute jewellery, mainly necklaces and earings but some nice vintagey looking stuff. not too expensive either mainly between £5 and £15, and cheap p&p too.
