"When it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm already better than them" - Marylin Monroe

Jewellers and Butchers

i would really like to visit Florence. there is a bridge there that used to be filled with butcher shops, but a long time ago the king didn't like butcher shops, and he likes jewellers, so he changed them all. and now they are all jewellery shops.

talking of Florence

i love Florence and the Machine.

says, "would've cut it myself if I knew men could climb hair,
I'll have to find a tower somewhere
and keep away from the windows"- Sarah Bareilles, Fairytale

ghostly

i like the ghostly reflection of the seats on the window. but how mostly, the countryside is what catches your eye, and what takes your breath away, and is more important than anything we make.

Sunday 20 June 2010

I went to see Green Day at Wembley Stadium on Saturday

the set and graphics they used were so good

they hosed down and teepeed the crowd

and got some fifteen year old kid to go up and sing a whole song with them

it was pretty

'one, twenty one guns, lay down your arms, give up the fight
one, twenty one guns, throw up your arms, into the sky'

Mix It Up

a piece by Bill Viola, his work often has quite natural themes running through it, like water, air, fire and how it has an effect on people, he often slows footage down and he knows how to put it with the right sound to make it most effective. just a note, he is probably one of the most well-paid artists today, showing that video art is just as important as other fine art techniques.

a quirky piece by Nam June Paik, he has a lot of interesting work, go look it up on youtube.

a great piece of VJing.

It's time for me again to decide what theme I want to make a film about, or more importantly what type of film I want to make. So i've been browsing through youtube and found so much inspiration on there!

Stephen Wiltshire

Stephen Wiltshire is an artist that draws detailed cityscapes. As a child he was a mute, and at the age of three was diagnosed with autism, he lived entirely in his own world and didn't even have a language. From the early age of five it was noticed that he enjoyed drawing and he began to draw cityscapes at the age of just eight, his teachers forced him to speak by taking away his art supplies so he was forced to ask for them, his first word was 'paper'. He is an amazing artist and has a very interesting story. The pictures he draws are breathtakingly intricate and simply incredible.

little thoughts

'tell me your biggest fear'

'cancer'the writing on the image says 'deaths called by cancer as a subset of total deaths in 2007 (approx)'
red = every 10,000 deaths caused by cancer
blue = every 10,000 deaths
'people knowing my biggest fear'

'that after death there is....nothing;'
